October 16th Newsletter

On Thursday, Lifetouch will be here to take pictures of all of our students. Envelopes were sent home with students earlier this week. If you need a replacement, please call the office.

OLWEUS

On Wednesday, we begin our Olweus classes. We dedicate time once a week to help students learn about bullying. Our school has no tolerance for bullying. Using this curriculum, we teach children how to recognize bullying and what to do if they experience it. The course is taught at every grade level.

VISION AND HEARING SCREENING

Also on Wednesday, we finish our annual vision and hearing screening. We host this event in order to detect any vision or hearing issues that children may be experiencing. Families will be notified if concerns are uncovered.

WRITING OUTREACH

We began a new project this month. Every month we write letters or draw pictures and send them to senior citizens. We were approached by the Knights of Columbus about this project and happily agreed. We do not have a certain person in mind when we write so it is not a pen pal. Each of our students write two letters or draw two pictures if their writing skills are not yet developed. The letters/pictures are sent to the office were they are picked up and delivered. It is great writing practice for the students and we hope it brings a smile to our elderly friend's face.
