Each Lent we spend a day in reflection and prayer as a school community. This year we focused on Journeying with Jesus. We began our day with Mass, had a snack, and with the help of several dramatic students, Mrs. Kramer led us in a short play of Jesus' calling of the disciples (Matthew 4:18-22).
Simon Peter, James, and John had been out fishing all night yet caught nothing. Jesus came along, got into the boat with Peter, and told them to go out into deeper water and try again. In doing so, they pulled in so many fish that they filled their boats. They headed back to shore, and when Jesus told them to FOLLOW HIM, Simon Peter, James, and John left the biggest catch of their lives on the shore and did exactly that.
We are reminded that Jesus (a) gets in the boat with us when we need Him, (b) He gives us the direction we need if we are willing to listen and trust in Him, and (c) He calls us to follow Him--every single day. Our day focused on these important messages. We took time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Adoration, created prayer rocks, experienced a guided meditation, did a service project for the nursing home, went "fishing" for kind deeds we are called to do, and closed with Stations of the Cross. It was a full day of faith and fun with our friends.
