Marathon 2019
We have just one more day until we make the big announcement of our Marathon 2019 total. Please continue to reach out to ask for more donations as you are able! We will continue collecting for the next couple of weeks. If we meet our $60,000 goal by 10/11, we will still be able to go on the “big prize” field trip. But it is my sincere hope that we can announce that we made the goal right away this Friday afternoon. Thanks to all of you who have gone above and beyond to make this fundraiser a success. As of this morning our total has reached $50,324. Ho me stretch, everybody! We can do this.
Please dress for the weather – layers are best. Looking at the forecast, hats and mittens are needed as well. Students are not expected to dress up for Mass; they are encouraged to wear SoSP gear if you have it. If not, blue or yellow shirts would also be terrific. The schedule for the day is as follows:
8:00 Our day begins at the church. Hicks busses will drop off there. If your child walks or is dropped off, please take note to deliver them to the church.
8:30 Mass. Families are encouraged to join us. Students may sit with their families. If your
child has a Mass part, please sit on the piano side of the church.
9:30 Pictures, bathroom break, blessing.
9:45 Marathon Walk – about 3 miles around town.
10:45 Return to the church and prep for lunch.
11:00 Lunch provided by the Knights of Columbus.
11:45 Marathon Prayer Service and Announcement of our total.
12:45-1:00 Dismissal. Note that all students will be dismissed at this time and Hicks busses will not be picking up our students at 2:50.
Adopt-a-Highway Ditch Clean-up
Each fall we gather on a Saturday morning for a school service project. This year it is scheduled for next Saturday, October 12. We will gather at the Veterans Park (by the new playground) at 9 AM. We need lots of families to help make this go smoothly. If possible, please let us know in the office if you are able to help so we can plan for treats following the work!
Grandparents Day Thank You
What fun having so many grandparents visiting our school! Many thanks to our teachers and Mrs. McCarney for helping the students prepare for this special day. And special
thanks to our wonderful crew of parent helpers who made Grandparents Day go so smoothly, especially Sara and Virgil Rick for their leadership.
Safety Lessons
In the next couple of weeks we will be covering lots of different safety elements at our school including bus safety, fire safety, safe environment, internet safety lessons, and ALICE lock-down trainings. These are standard procedures for this time of year and are designed to help prepare our students for any number of emergencies. Hopefully these trainings also provide a springboard for your safety discussions at home as well. Something to think about:
· What are your fire escape plans for your home?
· How can we be safe on the Internet? What safety rules are needed in our home?
· What should you do if an adult makes you feel uncomfortable?
Reminder: No School Monday!
The teaching staff will be in Redwood Falls this coming Monday, October 7 for the annual Diocesan Faith Formation Day, so our students will not have school. Enjoy this extra day with your children!
Meeting Reminder
Our Marketing/Events Teams and School Committee will meet next Tuesday. Marketing at 4:30 and School Committee at 6:30.
School Pictures
Our school picture day is schedule for 10/22. Envelopes for placing orders will be sent home next week.
